Ten principles for the management of  different philosophies of life in SME's


An increasing number of organisations are striving for more diversity in the workplace and for a more inclusive work environment. Because efficient management of a diverse group of employees is critical to any successful organisation. Also for SMEs.

How can you create an inclusive work environment in your SME, with space for philosophical diversity? This requires specific efforts and goal-oriented action. Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts center of expertise Public Impact developed 10 management principles – including concrete tips, practical examples and expert advice.

These insights are grouped under 3, important pillars:
  • Create an inclusive climate
  • Invest in inclusive leadership
  • Guarantee inclusive practices

Presenters:

 Gunilla de Graef has extensive experience in both intercultural communication and interculturalisation processes. She designed a dialogue game on dealing with inclusion questions, an e-course for students preparing for international mobility and a framework for intercultural competence. Gunilla was been involved in various national and international projects, amongst others a Leonardo Project on the interculturalisation of technical training. Currently, Gunilla is working both as a lecturer and as a researcher at the Karel de Grote University for applied sciences. Additionally, she trains and consults for companies, public offices and non-governmental organisations.

Zaia El Morabit is currently working both as a lecturer and as a researcher at the Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Antwerp. As a project officer for diversity, she is also closely involved in the implementation of initiatives that focus on the intake, progression and outflow of students. In addition, as a consultancy coach Zaia has built up an extensive network with various organisations and companies in which students complete consulting projects in collaboration with these organisations and companies.
