Webinar
Harnessing Neuroplasticity For Intercultural Practice
24 October 2022
18:00 - 19:00 CET
This Webinar discusses brain neuroplasticity, its pervasiveness in our everyday lives, and especially its remarkable ability to reshape memories and thought processes. How can practitioners in the intercultural field harness its remarkable power to alter mental pathways for paradigm changes in thinking? Drawing on three guiding principles of neuroplasticity – contemplation (Chierchia & Singer 2017), knowledge-seeking, and experiential attentiveness (cf. Song & Jung 2015; Wulansari et al. 2020), we will discuss how to harness brain neuroplasticity in practical terms. Techniques such as compassion meditation, curiosity stimulation, mindful communication, and video games will be viewed for their potential to further empathy, reframe experiences and overcome learned othering.
