Cultural Adjustment: A Continuous Process

30 March 2023
18:00 - 19:00 CET

Cultural adjustment a continuous process.

People might assume moving to a new country and culture is a straightforward process, but nothing could be far from the truth. Naturally cultures are diverse and different, even within the same country. The time it takes to get used to life in a new culture is strongly  contested in the expatriation and acculturation literature. Some argue it takes between 3 to 6 months to fully feel part of the new country. However, there are others who point out that cultures are changeable  and getting used to them is a never-ending process.

Farah Kalmey is British researcher and lecturer who  gained his   Ph.D. Organizational Wellbeing  at Lancaster University, UK and currently working in Saudi Arabia. Farah expertise and research interests are expatriate adjustments, acculturation, immigration, health and wellbeing. Farah was born in Africa and has an extensive knowledge of African, European and Arab cultures. Farah worked for the United Nations World Food Programme, Care international and Medicines Sans Frontiers, experiences that shaped his interest for immigration and wellbeing.

This webinar is of interest for practitioners, interculturalists, policy makers, or anybody interested immigration and expatriate adjustments.
