Adding Intercultural Competence to the Mix
4 April 2022
15:00 - 16:00 CET
At our next DMeetUp of the 4th of April, at 3 p.m. CET, our colleague from Canada (yes, SIETAR DMs live also in Canada!) Nitin Deckha offers to explore together the topic of
Adding Intercultural Competence to the Mix of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
Intercultural trainers and practitioners and diversity, equity and inclusion specialists have evolved their craft apart from each other. Well, it’s time to break the silos! In this DMeetUp, participants will be encouraged to consider how key intercultural insights into ethnocentrism, cultural worldviews, conflict and communication styles can intersect and support the important work of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Nitin Deckha holds a PhD in Anthropology from Rice University (Houston, TX), a Master’s Certificate in Adult Training and Development from the Schulich Executive Education Centre, and is a Certified Training Development Professional (CTDP). For the last 15 years, Nitin has designed and taught courses in anthropology, social problems, gender issues, public policy, intercultural communication, and the transformation of work at McMaster University, the University of Toronto, and the University of Guelph-Humber, all in Ontario, Canada. Nitin speaks to various audiences and delivers learning for adult professionals in in-person, hybrid, and distance formats on topics ranging from gender-inclusive leadership, intercultural communication, and collaboration to preparing people for the future of work. In January 2021, he led his first webinar for SIETAR-Tri-State on “Embedding Intercultural Fluency Training in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Transformation.”
