DMeetUp with Patti McCarthy: More Integration, Less Differentiation
2 October 2023
15:00 - 16:15 CET
As the world can sometimes feel like it is becoming more and more polarised, reminding people of the value of integration and teaching them how to ‘do it’ is an important skill for interculturalists to share.
Our next DMeetUp on the 2nd of October 2023, 3 p.m. CET will be with Patti McCarthy, and together we will explore the topic
More Integration, Less Differentiation!
Have you ever been part of a group of people who you just couldn’t fit in with? Many of us who work in the intercultural arena will probably answer ‘only occasionally’, as we are drawn to this type of work precisely because we are natural bridge-builders. We probably enjoy meeting new people, learning about them and figuring out how to ‘connect’ with them. For many others, however, understanding what is required to fit in and knowing how to adapt their behaviour in order to integrate with the crowd around them are super-powers that seem way beyond their reach!
Please join us to discuss what integration means, to share your stories of how some people go about the business of integrating and to explore why some people succeed at integrating and some people fail.
Presenter Patti McCarthy has worked as a cultural trainer and expatriate coach since 2008. Originally from England, she has lived more than half of her life in other countries and had lots of experience of integrating, starting with a life determining challenge at the age of 8! She is a qualified life coach and NLP Master and in 2016 published Cultural Chemistry, a highly readable book about cultural differences and how to bridge them. She is an accredited GlobalDISC practitioner and is certified to deliver the CQAssessment.
We are looking forward to your participation and sharing!
