DMeetUp w/ Dr. George Simons: The Culture of SIETAR

With the beginning of the new year, it is exciting to welcome in – with you! – new ideas and perspectives. Hopefully your 2024 will be full of joy, prosperity, safety and good health.

It is a pleasure to announce our 39th DMeetUp: The Culture of SIETAR, Dr. George Simons, Presenter. The DMeetUp will be on 5 February, 2024 at 15:00 Central European Time.

George Simons is a consultant, trainer, and educational designer who has created the award-winning diversophy® game for developing intercultural competence for training programs and online learning (www.diversophy.com). He has collaborated with several universities in game development. Author and editor of EuroDiversitya Business Guide to Managing Difference, he also co-authored Putting Diversity to WorkSeven Ways to Lighten Your Life before You Kick the Bucket, and eight Cultural Detective® intercultural guides. Currently he is focused on developing tools and expertise for the acculturation of migrants and other socially important issues such as populism and decolonialisation. Living in France, he delivers consultation, coaching, training and training design worldwide.. He has been a regular lecturer at ESPEME and JAMK and has served on the governing boards of SIETAR Europa and SIETAR France.

To the best of George’s knowledge, it has almost been 40 years since anyone addressed the culture of SIETAR in one of their public events, so I it is not only time to revisit this topic, but to make its exploration a feature of our organizational understanding.  Why not apply our own perspectives and tools to our own work, our identity, and roles we play in our professions? In this zoom session, George will be connecting the DEIB+ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) issues with an interactive process of having participants look at the culture of SIETAR as they experience it and assess it.  With it’s upsides and its challenges,  we will be applying these diversity criteria that so many of us are using to assist organizations in managing their diversity, but with which we don’t necessarily look at ourselves.

Please join us and bring your SIETAR experiences, and stories with you. Click on the link below to sign up for this exciting event.
