Hidden Stories Behind a Raised Voice

In some cultural contexts, a raised voice signals conflict or loss of control. In others, it expresses engagement, emphasis, or genuine involvement. What we hear in such moments is never neutral—it is shaped by our cultural conditioning, personal reactions, and the frameworks we use to interpret difference.

In this workshop, Bruna Toubia invites intercultural practitioners to move beyond quick interpretations and explore what may lie beneath the surface of emotionally charged communication. When voices rise, what is actually being expressed? And how do our own filters influence whether we perceive connection, tension, or threat?

The session opens a space for a more attentive and grounded form of listening—one that can hold multiple meanings at once and engage more skillfully with the complexity of intercultural encounters.
